Fairies is a series of character designs created for an imagined world inhabited by children, robots, and a diverse group of fantastical beings. Each character has a distinct personality and physical form, from familiar human-like figures to creatures with unconventional bodies and abilities. The series explores how differences in appearance and physical ability can become a natural and playful part of an imaginary world.
Visual Storytelling & Process
The characters were first drawn by hand with pen on paper and later developed through digital color. Their personalities emerge through exaggerated proportions, expressions, clothing, movement, and small narrative details. Rather than following a single model for how a fairy or fantasy character should look, each figure was designed around its own logic—finding individual ways to move, interact, and inhabit the story.
Visual Language & Symbolism
Physical difference is treated as part of the visual identity of the characters rather than as something that needs to be explained. Some have one leg, some have no arms, while others have more familiar bodies or are mechanical. Their unusual anatomy becomes a source of character, humor, and possibility. Through playful shapes, expressive linework, and bright color, the series imagines a world in which very different figures naturally belong alongside one another.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
In anything at all, perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away, when a body has been stripped down to its nakedness.
