Plötzlich Huhn! | Pina’s Wish Came True

Project Overview

Plötzlich Huhn! is a picture-book concept inspired by one of my own childhood memories.

Pina loves drawing and dreams of having a chicken of her own. One day, something unexpected happens: one of her drawings seems to come alive, and suddenly her imaginary world begins to spill into reality.

The story plays with the boundary between drawing and real life, imagination and wishful thinking, creating a world where the characters can still carry traces of the paper they came from.

Visual Storytelling & Process
The illustrations are built around Pina’s imagination and the idea that drawings can become part of the real world.

Hand-drawn lines, simplified shapes and playful compositions help preserve the feeling of something created by a child, while the surrounding environment remains more grounded.

The visual development begins with sketches and character studies, allowing the personality of Pina and the birds to grow together with the story.

Visual Language & Symbolism
Paper, drawing and transformation are central visual elements of the project.

The birds retain a slightly flat, illustrated quality even when they enter Pina’s world, creating a deliberate contrast between what is imagined and what is real.

At its heart, Plötzlich Huhn! is about imagination, companionship and the strange little worlds children can create when they really believe in an idea.

This project is currently in development. Text, concept and illustrations by Tahmineh Sezavar.
The book is being developed in both German and English.
